WEEK 10: Brooke Crosses into NSW, Hits Canberra & Keeps Moving Forward

Week 10 of Brooke McIntosh’s Run Around Australia marked a huge milestone. From crossing the state border into New South Wales to powering toward Canberra, this leg was about more than distance. It was about momentum, purpose, and pushing through—physically and mentally.

A New State, A Familiar Drive

Brooke officially entered New South Wales by crossing the Murray River with her support crew right behind her. Gus, Jessie, and Belinda rejoined the mission, adding fresh energy to the already tight-knit team. Even a dead watch battery mid-run couldn’t break the stride—Brooke pushed on, with five final kilometres in Victoria before heading into Albury.

From there, the team made steady progress up the Hume Highway, heading for Wollongong and then onto Canberra. As always, Brooke went beyond the plan—taking scenic detours, adding extra kilometres, and turning every step into a story.

Big Days, Bigger Conversations

Despite covering more than 120km on some days, Brooke made time to connect with her crew, cook dinner (yes, after massive run days), and keep spirits high. But Week 10 wasn’t all light-hearted.

On Day 62, she paused to address something serious: the emotional weight of online hate. While thousands of strangers have shown support on the road and online, some haven’t been as kind. Brooke’s response was direct:

“I’m one strong, powerful woman out here doing this… your comment is not going to stop me.”

She reminded us that mental health is just as important as physical endurance—and that focusing on the good, the support, and the mission ahead is what keeps her going.

This week, Brooke showed that strength doesn’t always look like running 80km a day. Sometimes, it looks like speaking up.
